On February 20th, the duo unveiled the resulting phase through PROJECT MONDO G, a recreation of the iconic Mercedes-Benz G-Class with the distinctive puffer jacket of Moncler.

A closer look at Moncler and Mercedes-benz’s PROJECT MONDO G exposes further distinguishing features that circle back to the original products of the two with the rough patina evident to the eye, referring to functionality and practicality.
This serves as a visual antithesis to the flawless, high-gloss reflective surfaces of the puffer jacket that underpin the luxury claim. The PROJECT MONDO G also closes up through a massive zipper, another purposely eye-catching feature, which is a visual representation of the adaptability and diversity of both items, the car and the jacket.
Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer Mercedes-Benz Group AG, says the collaboration with Moncler inspired its in-house team to create a real sculpture on wheels in a very bold design statement.
‘Based on our design philosophy Sensual Purity, PROJECT MONDO G merges extremely contrasting forms and surfaces: spacecraft shiny materials with a used patina look; strong geometry of the G-Class with organic forms of Moncler puffer jackets,’ he says.
He adds that the two luxury brands offer what they think is a new experience by combining the automotive and fashion worlds, united in one piece. ‘Because of the over-dimensional and exaggerated language of forms it’s polarizing art to set new impulses and trends,’ he says.
