Bigtreetech has launched the Raspberry Pad 5, a 5-in (~12.7 cm) IPS touchscreen display. The screen supports multi-point capacitive touch and has an 800 x 480 px resolution. The gadget has many interfaces, including a 40 pin GPIO, RJ45, Type-C, USB 2.0 and a CSI port. Plus, there is an HDMI port that can support a 2K display.

The device is powered by a 3V CR1200 lithium coin battery, though this isn’t included with your purchase. The gadget is compatible with all Raspberry Pi Compute Module 4 (CM4) models. Bigtreetech suggests many uses for the display, including a smart mirror, a smart speaker and a minicomputer.

Another use case for the Raspberry Pad 5 is on or with a 3D printer. Bigtreetech suggests that combined with a CM4 and a 3D printer motherboard you could run Klipper 3D printing firmware to deliver higher precision fast printing.

The device measures 121 x 75.9 mm (~4.8 x 3.0-in), with a display area measuring 108 x 64.8 mm (~4.3 x 2.6-in). You can now buy the Bigtreetech Raspberry Pad 5 at the discounted price of US$99. The gadget will retail later for US$129. Bigtreetech is also selling the display in kits with other components such as the Raspberry Pi CM4 and the Octopus v1.1 control board.
